Last year, the International Maritime Rescue Federation (IMRF) launched the second IMRF Awards - then called the H.E.R.O. Awards (new window) - recognising just some of the exceptional individuals and organisations around the world that make maritime search and rescue (SAR) possible.

The inaugural IMRF Awards were a great success, raising awareness of the excellent work done by those involved in the maritime SAR community, recognising outstanding bravery and achievements and highlighting innovative new SAR products and technologies.

A minimum of four press releases are planned; a launch announcement, long list announced, short list announced, winners announced. Further articles will be placed depending on opportunities and media interest.

The IMRF will work closely with you to ensure your sponsorship contribution receives appropriate recognition. Our inaugural awards last year generated 90 stories, published across 53 channels. We will of course be working to increase this reach and coverage this year.

The press releases will be included on the news section of the IMRF website and will feature in the IMRF quarterly newsletter. The Newsletter will be distributed in February, May, September and December to more than 3000 individuals.

Its readers work for or support SAR organisations or related businesses, Governments and NGOs around the world.

The IMRF has an active and growing following on social media, including LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, YouTube and Google+. The IMRF Awards 2018 will be fully covered on social media and the posts will be promoted to increase reach.

The IMRF Awards 2018 dinner will be held during the ceremony, and representatives from SAR organisations around the world will be in attendance, together with members of the local media. The event and the winners will be highlighted in post-event media activities, which will include video, media relations and extensive social media activity.

Your sponsorship will not only support the recognition and appreciation of exceptional maritime SAR people and organisations, it will help to raise awareness of this important work and preventing loss of life in the world’s waters.

If you have any questions, or would like to sponsor an award, please do not hesitate to contact us at imrfawards@imrf.org.uk.

SafeTrx Logo

The Outstanding Individual Contribution to a Maritime SAR Operation Award 2017 is sponsored by 8 West Consulting/SafeTrx

Safetrx is a vessel tracking smartphone application that fills a critical gap in the maritime situational awareness picture. SafeTrx gives rescue services access to data the skippers provide themselves as long as they are in range of a mobile network.

In case of an emergency, the MRCC can use the stored data to support search missions. Sometimes the information we get on missing leisure boats is very poor. We are sure that SafeTrx can help to close this gap and will be of great support to locate people who need assistance, and it will minimise false alerts from family members that we often get if crews are overdue.
